Kavaklidere Selection Narince Emir 2008

Kavaklıdere Selection Narince Emir 2008

We have gathered in Radika in Kosuyolu for Baris‘s birthday. Thanks to him for letting us know such a nice place 🙂 As usual, we arrived earlier than anyone else and therefore we chosed the wine. Since it was a hot summer evening, we wanted to drink a cold white wine, so we chosed Selection Narince Emir of Kavaklidere.

Narince and Emir are local grapes of Turkey. Narince is grown around Tokat and Emir is grown around Kapadokya. Narince has noticeable citrus fruit aromas. I couldn’t notice such a distinctive characteristic for Emir yet 🙂 May be its acidity, because it is rather high.

Since we drank Busbag’a Narince-Emir a few days ago, my evaluation for this wine is rather a comparison. Selection Narince Emir is as much aromatic as Buzbag’s Narince Emir, but Selection has a little more acidity compared to the latter. Well, I personally prefer low acidity, but I think this wine was very nice, too.

Considering that we had to order the second bottle of the same wine a short while after everyone popped up, I gues I made a good choice for everyone 🙂

Kavaklidere Angora 2008 (white)

Kavaklidere Angora 2008

The other evening, I felt like drinking white wine. I had a bottle of Kavaklidere Angora, I didn’t know where it came from. It was already in the cooler, so I opened it. Behind the bottle, it was written that the wine is made of Sultaniye grapes, from Denizli. There were also pictures of lobster and fish (I think so) for those who look for food & wine match. I just had a few nuts along with the wine.
It was a very easy to drink, a little sweet tasting, flowery and fruity wine with a very nice smell. It’s not good for those who like burning acidity of some white wines, but it’s good for me. Its color is actually more yellow than it appears on the photo. When I realized that I did not even try this white wine, which can be bought from almost everywhere at a very moderate price, I promised myself to give more chance to white wines from now on.

Kavaklıdere Kalecik Karası Syrah 2009

Kavaklıdere, Kalecik Karası Syrah 2009

We opened this bottle of Kavaklıdere Kalecik Karası Syrah 2009 to add joy to an ordinary dinner at home. It has a lively burgundy color, red fruity (cheery mostly) and spicy aromeas, soft tannins and moderate acidity. These all make it a light and almost sweet tasting wine. It does not stay long on the palate, but this does not prevent it from having a lovely ending. This was a good choice for our end.
