Karma Chardonnay Narince

The wine that you see in the very bad picture on the left is a very nice white wine. You should have noticed that I keep the promises that I make and give chances to white and rose wines.

I mentioned this wine briefly here previously. It is a white wine of Karma group of Doluca, which are made of one local and one international grape. A nice blend of Chardonnay and Narince.
I like both Chardonnay and Narince and I tasted this wine before. So, I knew that I would like it this time, too. I gave it an extra credit when it glorified my evening with my friends that I missed and love so much. They all said they loved the wine. 
You should try it! It is fishing season in Istanbul. Order your favourite fish along with a cooled Karma Chardonnay Narince. You’ll see that life is beautiful ­čÖé

Ardesia Blush Pinot Grigio

I regret that I have not tried a rose wine in this summer while I kept complaining that I can’t drink red wine when the weather is so hot. In these last days of summer, I ordered Ardesia Blush Pinot Grigio only because a friend of mine asked me to do so. It was a nice surprise for me because I liked it very mush.

This is a rose wine with a color of salmon. It is made of 85% Pinot Grigio and 15% Chardonnay. It is very light and refreshing, and it also has a relatively low acidity, which is a good point for me. I drank it along with macaroni with a tomato & basil souce and I think they made a nice pair.

Please don’t do what I did throughout this summer. Give a chance to rose wines and if you have a chance to drink Ardesia Blush Pinot Grigio, give it a chance, too!

Wine & Dine with Isa Bal

Wine & Dine event of Kayra was very special this time. In addition to enjoying an early summer evening in the garden of Mimolett with Kayra’ wines and a delicious dinner from Murat Bozok’s kitchen, we had Isa Bal and his conversation on wine & dine at our table.

I’m not sure which was more worth to tell you. The modest comments of Isa Bal, or Murat Bozok’s low profile presenting his masterpieces as if they were regular dishes. I’m just going to tell you a few things briefly without boring you.┬á
Firtly, I’d like to mention that I think that anyone who witnessed the harmony of Kayra Vintage Chardonnay with a soup (jerusalem artichoke soup with vanilla) would not have a problem anymore in believing that wine can get along with any kind of food.

After the soup and asparagus salad, I tasted the Foie Gras, which is something highly glorified by French people, but is definitaly not my kind of food. It was too oily for me. (Still, I put it on a piece of brioche -meaning butter-bread, I guess- nicely and took a picture for you.) Similarly, the Hungarian Tokaji, which was included in the menu on Isa Bal’s suggestion, was not my kind of wine, it was too sweet for me. However, when I tasted these two together, I can tell you that it was clear to me why sommeliers are important persons. The intense and sweet taste of the wine swept away the strong smell and oily feeling of Foie Gras. This must be what they call harmony!

Isa Bal mentioned that Tokaji did not always have to be so sweet. The wine we drank was a wine made of grapes picked up one by one. On the bottle, the expression 6 puttonyos was written. This means that 1 liter of the wine contains 150 gram sugar. If you happen to buy Tokaji, you may see the expression saying 3, 4, 5, or 6 puttonyos. For instance, 5 puttonyos means that there is 125 gram sugar in 1 Liter of the wine.
Lastly, I’d like to tell you about the main dish of the dinner, a veal steak (antrikot). I’ll be s hort and to the point. If that unbelievably soft and artless looking food was a veal meat, what were the things that we had been buying from the butcher and cooking at home?
Without digging in this subject deeper, I am ending my post here wishing to have further dinners at Mimolett with wine and joy.

Umurbey Chardonnay 2007

As I have been tasting and drinking only red wines for a long time, I decided I have been unfair to white wines and decided to drink a wine of Chardonnay. If you ask me why I chosed Umurbey’s Chardonnay, I don’t really remember. Somehow, I remembered the name from somewhere.
I bought the wine from Metro Grossmarket for a price around $ 20. I opened the bottle in an evening just before dinner time. It made a good couple together with gouda cheese, which became my dinner for that night eventually.

I actually expected a less distinct acidity from this wine; so, I was a little surprised when I first tasted it. I noticed lated that if the wine is cool enough, the acidity becomes less marked and the wine gets much better. As always, I was defeated by my impatience.

I think Umurbey Chardonnay is a lievly, refreshing wine with citrus fruits.

I thinkg I am going to dring white wine – especially those made of Chardonnay – more often from now on. We will see together if I will actually do it.

Son olarak da tatl─▒ ile beraber Safir 2008 ile geceye noktam─▒z─▒ koyduk. Safir’de tatl─▒l─▒─č─▒n─▒n yan─▒nda bu tatl─▒l─▒─č─▒ dengeleyen, ne oldu─čunu tam olarak anlayamad─▒─č─▒m bir aroma var, benim ho┼čuma gidiyor. Belki biraz buruk bir bal─▒ and─▒ran bir aroma olabilir, emin de─čilim.┬á
